 An exciting new expanded partnership between Hyundai Motor Group and Korean AI chip startup DEEPX, is also enabling South Korea to take another huge leap toward becoming a global AI and robotics superpower.  As per Reuters in April 2026,  the two companies are creating generative-AI enabled robots on the back of state-of-the-art low-power AI chips.

This alliance shows Korea‘s increasing interest in aligning artificial intelligence, robotics and semiconductor companies to create the industrial systems of the future.

What Has Been Confirmed So Far

In an official report,  it said,  Hyundai and DEEPX,  are working on AI robotics systems and they will be able to do more intelligent, powerful real-time tasks from what they said on their website. The project focuses on using low-power AI semiconductors that can process advanced AI functions directly on devices without relying heavily on cloud systems.

 It could be used to develop faster, smarter and more energy-efficient robots suitable for industrial and commercial applications.

Why This Partnership Matters

For Hyundai,  this partnership stands as the company‘s growing horizon outside automobiles.  Especially during recent years, Hyundai has poured more and more into robotics, smart factories, autonomous mobility, and artificial intelligence systems.

At the same time DEEPX is entering the scene with dedicated AI chips that are scoped just for the robotic and edge AI use case.

Together, the partnership could support developments in:

* Smart factories:

* Auto-warehousing * Autonomous robotics

* AI intelligent mobility systems

Korea’s Bigger AI Ambition

The Hyundai–DEEPX experiment is also just one of many Korean initiatives moving the country further into the world of AI and robotics. Korea is investing massively in:

* AI infrastructure: “any information technology support you could need for every aspect of your AI trial”.

* Semiconductor technology

* Robotics research However the obvious thing is that these two types of robots are still not enough for our increasing need. Sometimes those robots are made in research institutions in order to develop a new one.

* Smart city systems

Conclusion

Although the project is still in the preliminary stage,  it already represents the trend that South Korea is heading to – a future of AI-based automation and smart robotics.

 However, since competition globally is getting more intensive in the realm of artificial intelligence, the Hyundai-DEEPX cooperation should be one of another that Korea moves toward to be one of the main powers in next generation technology.
