Children day in Korea is a very crucial day for Korean society. It is a national holiday held annually on 5th May. This day is celebrated for children’s happiness, dignity and rights. Established in 1923, it is a day for families to visit parks and spend a quality time with their family. Every day children spend their whole time in school and this day they got some time for doing some fun activities with their parents.

Back to the 1920s, during the period of Japanese rule, the writer and activist Bang Jeong Hwan realized the importance of education for children’s and he realized the children are the future of the country. At that time, children tended to attend elementary schools which were insufficient to improve the country’s future. He also founded two associations, The Cheondogyo Sonyeonhwoe and the Saekdonghwoe both dedicated to children.
And then he establishes a day dedicated entirely to children on which parents themselves should commit to reflecting on their importance. And from then may 5th celebrated as a children’s day.
Schools and most businesses are closed on Children’s Day in Korea. This day they spend their time with their family. They do some outdoors activities such as visiting zoo, going to the amusement park or having a family picnic.

And this day positively impacts children by fostering joy, creativity and self-esteem through special activities like games, talent shows, and teacher performances. And it promotes the value of children and the importance of their rights, education and this day create a very emotional bond between parents and kids.
