The Beauty of Jeju Island

Jeju Island is a home of environment and biodiversity. And it is the attraction of tourist. There are so many mountains are there in Jeju Island like Hallasan mountain. And the soil of hallasan made of volcanic ash because it is a shield. And the highest peak of Hallasan is often covered with cloud which shows the beauty of nature. Even in Jeju island there are so many hiking trails exist like Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa and their stunning views attract every year peoples.

The  city of Jeju is the island’s principal port and the main airport of this city is Seogwipo. And it is the second largest city and main attractive city for tourists. Even people called Jeju is “Island of Gods”. And Jeju is officially declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO. The vast forested swathes of semi-tropical national park, Global Geopark, Biosphere Reserve all things is present here. It is place where environment is living a peaceful life. The fresh air with beautiful marine diversity makes this island more attractive. 

Even Dol Hareubang is the iconic statue of Jeju Island. And Dol Hareubang is means stone grandfather. And people believe that this statue protects them from demons and bring fertility. But before 1971 the statues have another name, including Ongjungseok, Beoksumeori and Wuseokmok. But after1971 they have been called it Dol Hareubang. They are made by volcanic rock and their height are up to three metres. The statue’s hands are always on their stomachs. A statue with a higher right hand is a civil officer and the higher left-hand statue is a military figure. The right hand holds a brush and left hand holds a bow and spear. Over 40 Hareubangs are on Jeju Island. And most statue are Bukchon Dol Hareubang Park. And this statue stands inside and outside of the shops, homes, publics areas and entrance to cities. Because they believe that this statue will protect them from evil spirits.

Jeju Island is fill with endemic species and their marine life. The fresh water increases more beauty of environment and earth. And their Gotjawal Forest where tropical and polar plants are present there which play as the lungs of this Island’s. and this island is the symbol that our environment is beautiful.
