JYP Entertainment is reportedly preparing to enter the Indian market!
On December 1 KST, JYP Entertainment reported to expand its sights in India, positioning itself to become the second major K-pop agency to do so after HYBE’s expansion ‘HYBE INDIA’, in Mumbai in September following G-DRAGON’s agency Galaxy Corp.‘s also planning to enter the Indian market, yet to confirm the news.

According to the Korean Herald, an industry source stated, “JYP Entertainment is preparing to open its office in India to target the local music market. The exact location or timeline has not been decided, but the timing seems right as K-pop’s popularity continues to rise among younger generations in India.”
While the company has yet to confirm the news, if the plan moves forward, India would become the agency’s fourth overseas branch after the US, Japan and China.
The interest in India comes as the country emerges as a growing force in the global music landscape. With a population of about 1.46 billion and 185 million music-streaming users, the country rapidly became one of the world’s most dynamic markets. The increasing enthusiasm for K-pop among younger Indians has made the region particularly attractive to Korean entertainment companies looking to broaden reach in Asia.
JYP Entertainment is a multinational entertainment and record label conglomerate founded in 1997 by Jin Young Park. The company manages a diverse lineup of internationally recognized artists, including TWICE, Stray Kids, ITZY, DAY6, 2PM, NIMXX, Xdinary Heroes, KICKFLIP, Japan-based groups such as NiziU and NEXZ, China based groups such as BOY STORY and YAOCHEN, and American girl group GIRLSET.
