The opening of New Korean Education Centre,New Delhi

The Republic of Korea and India marked a new significant journey strengthening educational partnership between both the nations by inaugurating Korea Education Centre in New Delhi on Thursday,January 15 under the Special Strategic Partnership and guidance and observation of The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea,led by Minister Choi Gyo Jin,stating that the centre has been established as an overseas educational institution under Overseas Korean Education Act,in consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The education centre is a new stepping stone to enhance academic cooperation between the two countries announcing the objective of strengthening educational services for overseas koreans and expanding educational cooperation.

This new Korea Education Centre focuses not only on the increasing globalization of korean language but also on identity education and lifelong learnings for overseas koreans and also serve as a hub for korean language education attraction for international students.

The Korea Education Center since its first establishment in Japan in 1960s has already expanded to 47 centres in 22 countries worldwide and had a very positive response,so this new establishment in New Delhi India brings in the same hope for positive response and steady expansion of their role strengthening the aim of the Ministry to stimulate demand for studying in korea and support the long term settlement of international students.

The opening ceremony in New Delhi was attended by a delegation from the Korean Ministry of Education,including Mr.Seol Sehun,Director General of Planning and Coordination; Mr.Lee Seong Ho,Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India,Mr.Ravikesh,Registrar of Jawaharlal Nehru University,and Mr. Lee Kwang Il, Chairman of the Korean Association in India.

Commenting on the occasion,Education Minister Choi Gyo Jin stated,“The role of the Korea Education Centre in India should be greatly strengthened in line with Korea’s elevated economic and cultural status in the international community and the global education powerhouse strategy aimed at attracting 300,000 international students.”

 The event was wrapped up with this new enthusiasm and hope of futuristic achievement of the goals of Korean Education Centre and The Ministry Of Education Korea.
